MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT - (4/8/2020)
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I hope you and your family have been able to stay safe and well during this health crisis. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I am writing to let you know that Jerry Sullivan, President of BAC Local1 NY, was recently appointed IUBAC Vice-President by Tim Driscoll, President of the IUBAC. Jerry Sullivan will no longer be serving as President of BAC Local 1. I would like to thank Jerry Sullivan for his many years of hard work and leadership. Serving as your Secretary - Treasurer for the past ten years and having served as a Local 1 Official for over twenty-five years, I will now assume the role of President of BAC Local 1 NY. I do this with great honor and pride.
Furthermore, I have appointed Tony LaCava, who has served our Local as a Vice-President of BAC Local 1 for the past 10 years, as Secretary- Treasurer of BAC Local 1 NY. Lastly, I have appointed long standing Field Representative John Cucchiarella to serve as BAC Local 1 NY Vice- President.
Over the last ten years we have expanded work opportunities for our members. We have re-grown and expanded our membership after the 2008 economic collapse and continued to improve our wages and benefits. Our new leadership team will continue the great work that Jerry and I were able to accomplish over the last ten years. However, the current health crisis and the shut down of nearly all construction work in NY is the greatest challenge we have faced as an organization and as a country in our lifetime. We continue to assess this situation as it develops and we will strive to keep you informed regarding various governmental relief programs and work opportunities. We believe that this current crisis will eventually come to an end and, by sticking together, BAC Local 1 will endure and continue to grow and succeed.
